The What
The Edmonton Game Convention Committee is the organizational body which produces the annual Edmonton Game Convention. Currently in the first year of operation, the EGCC has put a great deal of time, effort, and research into creating an organization which can achieve the goal of bringing a quality game con to Edmonton. The How When the idea of a game conference in Edmonton was thrown around by the founders, the main question was "How can we pull this off?". The wish was to create an event where people could get together for a weekend and have a great time playing and talking about games and the gaming world. What was decided upon was a registered non-profit society. As a society under Alberta provincial law, the EGCC must be governed by a set of bylaws. That's a bit of reading, so a few main points are summarized below:
Through this governing form the EGCC will create a convention that is truly by gamers, for gamers. The Who Of course, none of this can happen without a dedicated team of organizers. The Edmonton Game Convention Committee is operated by a 9 person volunteer Board that both sets policy as well as carries out planning and operations. Feel free to contact any Board member as we all would welcome any suggestions, hints, leads, or help in putting on this convention! How to Get Involved The EGCC is looking for dedicated individuals to round out its management team. Please visit our Board Recruitment page to view openings and job description. We’re looking for talented and capable people that are willing to put in the dedication, effort, and care needed to plan this convention. Not only is it a great opportunity to experience convention planning and utilize management skills in a rewarding environment, but you'll be part of the team that brings a fantastic event to life right here in Edmonton! |
