Driving to Edmonton Edmonton is located on the junction of major Canadian highways. From the south, drivers should take the Queen Elizabeth II Highway into the City and follow signage to downtown. The Yellowhead Highway is the major E/W route and passes through Edmonton just north of the downtown core. Once again, signage for Downtown should be followed Flying to Edmonton Edmonton air travel is serviced out of the Edmonton International Aiport, located 30km south of downtown on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. The EIA has directly flights from most Canadian centres and numerous US hubs, making travel to Edmonton extremely easy. Major carriers include Air Canada, WestJet, Northwest/KLM, United, and Southwest. The Aiport Shuttle provides a convenient and affordable option to get into the City from the airport with one way tickets to downtown costing $15 CDN. Taxi fares to downtown run at approximately $40. Hotels There are many accomodation options in the downtown core that fit various budgets.
